Another CD packaging job sorted, this time for my mates in Norwich; The V8 Rockets. A hard working and well respected bunch of local musicians playing traditional rockabilly at rock ‘n’ roll clubs across the country for many years.
The Western Star Recording Company website has been doing it’s thing for 10 years, or more, now and was missing out on some of the new requirements such as SSL hosting (with the padlock, due to become a requirement in July 2018) and being ‘responsive’ to make it mobile and tablet friendly. The site is really to have a presence on the internet and as a gateway to the record label’s shop at https://western-star.tmstor.es so it’s just a compact site but it just needed updating to reach the required standards for today.
Latest CD packaging artwork job for the legendary “Western Star” label. This time for The Pat Winn Combo. Been having a chat with Pat this week and turns out he used to live about 4 miles down the road from me and work at one of the places we used to play back then! More Rock ‘n’ Roll goodness whizzed off to the pressing plant!!
Rockabilly hero Boy Butfoy, front man of “Jack Rabbit Slim”, with his first solo album backed by many top musicians including the guitar legend that is Darrell Higham. Artwork and packaging now approved and zipped off to the pressing plant!
Been a great day in the studio for music today as three CD album designs I worked on arrived in the post this morning. Two of these are compilations, one rockabilly the other psychobilly and it makes you realise the quality of bands and the amount of bands in the Western Star ‘stable’. I guess this is what happens when a record label only release recording from their own studio just like Sam Philips and Sun Studios, everybody associated with the studio becomes a family and guesting on other artists tracks. It’s awesome.
The other CD is the fantastic and long overdue second album from Stage Frite sounding considerably more ‘metal’ than the debut CD somewhere between the Long Tall Texans and the Krewmen I thought. Proper job
