When I first started offering web design services professionally in 2001 it soon became obvious that it would be advantageous to offer hosting services too. It’s all very well creating websites for customers but they ultimately require hosting and dealing with a multitude of hosting companies with their own requirements and systems was uneconomical and fraught with problems.
I wanted to take all the hassle out of the process for my customers so, once their site was created, I could make sure it was hosted on the appropriate systems for the technology it used and the website’s requirements. That includes email facilities and domain names.
Rather than hosting the websites on my own computers I work closely with a very reliable, UK based provider called CyberhostPro who provide all the services I need for all the major website technologies making sure your website just works!
I try and keep things simple so as a guide…
- If your website requires lots of photos, audio or video it will require more space and, depending on how much, would need to move to a higher package.
- If your website receives a lot of traffic this will push up the “Monthly Data Transfer” which would also mean you require a higher hosting package.
I would normally start your website on the minimum package required for the website you have as it’s always difficult to tell the traffic you will receive until the site is established. If it then regularly uses more than it’s quota I will give you the option to prune back the website somehow or just move to a higher package.
Hosting for everybody!
Although I provide these hosting services to support the customers I produce websites for I am also happy to provide hosting for websites to third parties. The hosting comes with a control panel so you can manage your own hosting and emails from any web browser and have FTP access. Just contact me.
